Stone Island tours, actually a peninsula with two ways to enter and leave, either by a 7 minute ferry boat, or 1 hour by car.
Stone Island, also known as Isla de las piedras with nothing but coconut trees, local activities, beaches and open-air restaurants for approx. 8 miles. This is where the locals go to relax along with the tourists and cruise ship tourists. Many of our guests have us give them an island tour showing them some of the highlights and activities available, then have us arrange a nice place for them to stay for a couple days and we return to pick them up to return to Mazatlan.

Stone Island tours – Isla de las Piedras. In 1936 when Stone Island (Isla de la Piedra) was born as an ejido. At the time it had only one road that connected with the Huizache Caimanero area of the municipality of El Rosario.
Over the years a road was built that connected to the airport. Now is round 10 miles to reach the town of Mazatlan. Small ferry boats were added that will take you to Mazatlan in about 7 minutes from the island, you can the boats in the photos.
Stone Island has not always been a place that only had beaches to offer tourist who go to enjoy. Before the beaches the islands economy was focused on agriculture.
The locals remember that the island was born as an ejido. Its inhabitants were mostly engaged in agriculture. Which was considered the main source of employment.
The growing of the tomato and other vegetables were fruits that were produced were sold in the port of Mazatlan. Unfortunately, the lack of water for irrigation systems that community extracted through the subsoil, caused the agricultural producers to leave the activity. Several crops are still produced today. But very little, the main industry now is tourism.
